BEACHMERE HUB GETTING CLOSER TO OPENING

Beachmere Area Network Group started July off with a BANG when they were handed the “keys” to the newest community resource in the Moreton Bay Region – the Beachmere Hub.

The BANG committee have been working since April 2018 to reinstitute the building which has, in the past, been a Bowls Club and, more recently, an RSL Club.

Major renovations and refurbishment, funded by the Moreton Bay Regional Council, have ensured the building will remain a resource for Beachmere locals by re-invigorating the space into function rooms and hireable spaces.

The Bay Room is a large function room with access to an undercover verandah, a full kitchen and bar servery.

The River and Mangrove Rooms are smaller spaces for meetings and the Beach Room is an “activity” based room.

A large foyer, meeting and breakout spaces, functional kitchenette and new toilets with disability access will make this function and events venue very popular for weddings, celebration events and community activities.

BANG will manage the venue for the Council which will allow them access to office and meeting room space to organise the many community events and activities they plan and produce each year.

Beachmere community groups have not been forgotten with BANG ensuring the existing Bowls Club has access to office space as well as upgraded toilets for the bowlers.

The Beachmere Community Disaster Management Team have also been allocated office space, as well as allotted areas for storage of equipment essential for Disaster incidents and events when evacuation of residents may be required.

The new Beachmere Hub will also provide a new home for the rapidly growing Beachmere U3A which, since forming in January 2019, has grown into the largest community group in the area.

Beachmere Hub can be contacted on 0475 571 902, by email at hub@bang.org.au or through MBRC at www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au/services.
