It’s never too early to prepare yourself for bushfire season. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, in conjunction with Moreton Bay Regional Council, are running a community information session on March 30 at the Bribie RSL.
The session aims to inform Island residents on the new Australian Warning System and Australian Fire Danger Ratings System, while also educating on how to prepare for the upcoming bushfire season later this year. Particularly given all the wet weather over the past few months, it’s important members of the community are aware of what they need to do to prepare their properties.
All residents are encouraged to attend the session, whether you feel you’re already prepared or not, every detail you learn could make a difference, especially if you find yourself in the middle of a disaster.
Rural Fire Service Bushfire Safety Officer Liane Henderson said the session would provide an important update on what to expect and how to get ready, as well as understanding bushfire warnings.
“During the information session we will discuss the different warning levels, so everyone is aware of the actions they will need to take should a warning be issued for the area. We will also discuss the new Australian Fire Danger Ratings System and simple steps everyone can take to ensure their home is prepared for bushfire season.”
The information session open to all Bribie Island residents will be held on Thursday 30 March (10am-12noon) at the Bribie Island RSL, Toorbul St, Bongaree.
