Keeping Fit on Bribie Island for 2021 and it’s Free!

Parkrun itself is a not-for-profit global organization operating in 22 countries. There are currently 405 of these FREE weekly events across Australia with more starting up almost weekly. Its popularity is brought about by its simple concept: it’s free, just turn up (every) Saturday morning with your barcode and walk, jog or run 5k. It doesn’t matter how fast or slow you go. It doesn’t matter your age (or young you feel you are). It doesn’t matter what you’re wearing. What matters is taking part and meeting people. Those who can’t run or walk or just don’t want to be in an event for whatever reason can still be part of it by being a volunteer in one of the numerous roles. We have witnessed a blind person running with a guide and a stroke victim recently out of hospital taking part in an event. With 780,000 participants currently registered in Australia alone, parkrun has become, without question the largest, most significant and game-changing community event in the country.

All events are organised and delivered weekly by volunteers and in Australia this is a group of over 3,500 wonderful, dedicated, local ordinary people. Parkrun is all about inclusiveness and wellbeing. We want as many people as possible to feel part of a real local community brought together by these events, as well as being part of our global parkrun family.
