It’s the most wonderful time of the year, where everyone goes crazy at the shops and madly buys everything. But there’s actually a little more to this time of year than just stalking for a park at the local shopping centre. If you look around, you might find a little sparkle of something happening in your local neighbourhood or even further afield that catches your eye. So, if you’re looking for some things to do this festive holiday season, here’s a few ideas that might help you out.
Christmas
With the silly season already well and truly underway and the big day just a sprinkle of time away (don’t leave that shopping until the last minute), you might be looking to get into the spirit of things and celebrate the magic that is Christmas.
Christmas Day lunch - Take all the stress away from the big day and let someone else do the cooking. Take part in an Aussie Christmas buffet lunch with all the trimmings at Bribie Island Hotel. Costs apply and bookings are essential. Visit www.bribieislandhotel.com.au or phone 3051 7601. Grab a seafood buffet lunch and dessert at the Blue Pacific Hotel Woorim. Drink packages available and other costs apply. To book, visit www.thebluepacific.com.au.
Christmas Twilight Markets Caboolture – held in the same spot as the usual Caboolture Markets (Beerburrum Road and Old Gympie Road), there will be stalls, singing, fireworks and plenty to eat on Saturday December 18, 4pm-9pm. Christmas Lights – Check out your local neighbourhood to see the bright and festive displays. Do an online search for participating streets/suburbs to plan your trip beforehand.
Visit Santa – Head out to Bribie Island Shopping Centre and see the big guy in the red suit right up until Christmas Eve. Online bookings are essential! Kids also have the chance to post a letter to Santa via the North Pole mailbox located near Target. All letters received by December 19 will receive a reply so don’t forget your return address. Santa will also be at Morayfield Shopping Centre and Caboolture Square. Check their websites for all the booking information.
New Year’s Eve
After all the food, fun and presents, it’s time to get ready for a new year. Let’s face it, 2021 has been alright but far from great. Welcome the year 2022 in with some friends and family at home or head out, however you like to celebrate, ensure it’s a safe and happy one for all.
Caboolture Sports Club – Rock the final night of the year away with Let There Be AC/DC – The Tribute along with other entertainment and fun. Enjoy dinner at the restaurant or grab a few drinks with friends. Check out all the details via the club’s website, www.cabsports.com.au .
Sandstone Point Hotel – Starting from 2pm there will be loads of fun and entertainment for all ages. Fireworks will be held at 8.30pm and midnight. There’s also a Hollywood themed VIP party from 7pm. Contact the hotel for all ticket and event details.
Suttons Beach Pavilion Redcliffe – If you don’t mind heading for a drive, you can head over to Redcliffe to say goodbye to 2021. There’s food, drinks, a photo booth and a view overlooking the beach. All the event info can be found on their website.
For those who love heading into Brisbane city, there are a multitude of events being hosted at different venues on both sides of the river – take your pick!!!
**When planning activities during the festive season, please keep in mind to check with event organisers or businesses prior to booking/visiting to ensure you are still able to attend in case of changes or cancellations.**
