The Annual General Meeting of the Toorbul and Donnybrook Seniors Club was held on 1st June. There was a good roll up of members, and the outgoing President, Bruce Hansford presented the Annual Report detailing achievements for the year.
The major happening was the change of name from Pensioners to Seniors, which has seen a resurgence in the interest of at least 28 new members for the year. Improvements to the facility during the year included solar panels, new lights and fans, a new fridge, and stove.
We hosted a fund-raising function for the town in December to help a local family who had lost everything in a house fire on Christmas Eve. Sincere thanks to the community for helping.
Our regular activities include tai chi, indoor bowls, line dancing, craft, yoga, and cards. All are welcome to attend these activities whether you are a member or not.
During the year we hold special social and educational events including St Patrick’s Day luncheon, Christmas in July, Spring Fair and Melbourne Cup luncheon. We host an Art Exhibition and this year teamed with a local author for a book launch. There is also to be a Tech Seminar to assist iron out problems with phones and other devices.
The new committee was introduced, President - Bruce Hansford, Vice President - Michele Muckle, Secretary - Judy Glanville, Treasurer - Deb Hall, Ass Treasurer - Judy Doyle, Social - Hal Lepik, Librarian - Helen Mitchell, Provedore - Sandy Fortescue, Raffles - Judy Cottle, PR - Jan Stephensen, Committee members - Denise Kirkwood-Ryan and Karen Hansford
