U3A BEACHMERE CONTINUES TO GROW

U3A Beachmere is a relatively new campus, conducting its inaugural General Meeting in 2019.

Since then, like everyone, we have faced many challenges, but with the support of members, tutors, volunteers, and local community groups, we have continued to grow.

The 10th May 2022 will see U3A Beachmere hold its Annual General Meeting. We urge all members to attend as there are two extremely important items on the agenda. Recent changes to Queensland Incorporated Associations Act 1981 have created the need for changes and additions to our Constitution. These need to be ratified by the members to ensure our legal compliance. The other important business is the election of the Management Committee. As several Management Committee members will step down this year, we are calling for nominations to ensure that we have a viable committee in the future. If you feel you can contribute your life experience and community spirit to make U3A Beachmere a forward thinking and vital organisation, we need you!!

The U3A Beachmere program includes something for everyone; Gentle Chair Yoga, Line Dancing, Tai Chi, Lawn Bowls, Table Tennis, Walking Tour of Beachmere, Craft, Macrame, Tunisian Crochet, Pencil Drawing, Fun with Puzzles, Cards 500, Computer Basics, Guitar, Ukulele, Darts, Lunch group, Seminars and Workshops.

Term 2 commences on Tuesday 19th April and concludes on Friday 24th June 2022.

Seminars offered at U3A Beachmere are open to the community with entry being a gold coin donation. As numbers are limited, early registration is essential.

U3A Beachmere looks forward to the year ahead, with plans already underway for the Term 3 program of courses. Remember, you too can be a tutor. All you need is an interest in a subject or some knowledge you can share. You need no qualifications. The premise is to promote healthy ageing by sharing educational, creative, and leisure activities for those in the third age of life and to foster a friendly, stress-free environment to learn and socialize.

Our thanks go to all our tutors and volunteers for their time and willingness to make this possible.

Our office at The Hub, Main Street Beachmere, is closed for the holiday break from April 2nd through to April 18th. During this period, you can still contact us via the website or phone 0456 685 736. We will reopen on April 19th, and remain open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 12.30pm during Term 2.
